A large health care company based in San Antonio, Texas, WellMed Medical Management desired a comprehensive community relations program to increase brand recognition and drive patients into their five Treasure Coast clinics. Additional goals were to enhance the company’s relationships with state and federal medical regulators and partner with deserving local charities and community organizations.

Solution:

Known for their innovative healthcare programs focusing on wellness and patient services, Polin PR created and managed an extensive Community Outreach Program with a goal of reaching 3,000 seniors and medicare eligible patients . Launched in 2009, the program included development /sponsorship of more than 40 events held throughout the Treasure Coast that promote WellMed’s philosophy of keeping seniors informed while promoting a healthy lifestyle.

To date, the award-winning program has touched more than 5,000 residents of the Treasure Coast. The programs included educational seminars on Medicare 101, complimentary flu shots to more than 400 seniors at locations such as the City of Fellsmere and the Building Bridges to Youth organization in Stuart. To encourage preparation for hurricanes, WellMed partnered with the American Red Cross Treasure Coast Chapter to distribute more than 3,000 Hurricane Safety booklets specially designed for the senior population and held Hurricane Safety Fairs. Complimentary health screenings were offered at WellMed planned Health Fairs in Port St. Lucie, Barefoot Bay, Spanish Lakes and other senior/low income communities.

With WellMed’s belief that an active lifestyle promotes good health, Polin PR designed a series of fun events for seniors including Laughter is the Best Medicine, Technology Made Easy, Valentine Dances, Movie Nights and more. Last December, WellMed hosted the inaugural Seniors Got Talent competition with more than 100 seniors from all over the Treasure Coast participated in three casting calls and a Grand Finale which showcased their incredible talents.

Additionally, Polin PR partnered with many local non-profit organizations to expand their programs. Arrangements were made for a Caregivers Conference in Port St. Lucie where WellMed was promoted as a Founding Sponsor. Dr. Robert E. Kenney, Well Med’s Senior Physician for Florida Operations and an acclaimed teacher and lecturer, was the Keynote Speaker for an audience of close to 600 caregivers. Profile also arranged for the company’s sponsorship of the opening of the Area Agency on Aging – Treasure Coast which prominently featured the U.S. Assistant Secretary of Aging, Kathy J. Greenlee. Over $2,000,000 of media value was attained for this program in print, electronic and broadcast media.
